About Calpe
Calpe (Calp in Valencian) is a charming seaside town on the northern Costa Blanca, dominated by one of Spain’s most recognisable natural landmarks — the Penon de Ifach. This dramatic limestone rock formation rises 332 metres straight out of the Mediterranean, creating a stunning backdrop visible from miles around.
Nestled midway between Alicante and Valencia, Calpe offers a more relaxed and authentic alternative to its larger neighbour Benidorm. The town has excellent sandy beaches on either side of the Penon, a working fishing port that still holds daily fish auctions, and a growing international community.
Calpe is particularly renowned for its seafood. The restaurants lining the Puerto Pesquero serve some of the freshest fish on the Costa Blanca — from rice dishes and whole grilled fish to the local speciality, llandeta de Calpe, a traditional fisherman’s stew.
